UniversalPegasus is seeking an Engineer II to support the Power Division. This position will be based in Toronto, Ontario. The successful candidate will have 2 to 5 years experience evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to various engineering tasks under the guidance of a senior level engineer. In this position you will focus on preparing and developing engineering deliverables for electric substations projects and performing electrical studies.

Essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Under the guidance of a Senior Engineer evaluate, select and begin to apply engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to various engineering tasks.
• Responsibilities may include: engineering calculations, studies, detailed design, report writing, field investigations.
• Interact with other engineers and drafters to ensure project completion.
• Responsible for the technical adequacy and quality of the work, and adherence to deadlines for the assigned tasks.
• Select and apply engineering theories, principles and concepts in field of specialization.
• Duties apply to all types of electric power installations including substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, industrial systems, and renewable energy installations.
• Prepare and develop engineering deliverables for electric substations projects and or electrical studies – including but not limited to: one-lines, three-lines, AC schematics, DC Schematics, grounding, conduit, bill of materials, lightning protection, relaying, protection and controls, wiring, equipment specifications.
• Conform to and utilize established design and quality standards for project deliverables.
• Follow direction and support efforts of the project team.
• Apply established project design approach.
• Perform most tasks under direct supervision.
• Most work to be performed in office environment with periodic visits to project sites.
• Some travel required.
Educational and Work Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• EIT is preferred.
• 2 to 5 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• 2 to 5 years experience working for an electric utility company and/or an EPC firm designing substations.
• Detailed knowledge of national and provincial code requirements.
• Experience with SKM, Milsoft, Aspen OneLiner and SES a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and management ability.
Special Qualifications (Training, Technical skills, etc.):
• A strong technical background is a plus.
• Strong communication skills in writing, speaking and listening.
• Ability to work in a very project oriented culture.
• Strong project execution focus.
